The battery needs charging in the morning for 1-2 hours before the pump will run. If there is no sun, this solar water floating fountain pump will not run and the battery will not be charged. As this fountain floats, it does not need to be placed on a flat surface at the bottom of your pond, and it will not topple over. It will float up and down if the water level changes. The spray forms a circle about t8-10 feet wide, so your pond should be larger than this. The aeration this pump provides will not have much impact on a pond with more than 30K gallons however if you have no electricity any aeration maybe better then none.
